Family Day Out Overview
Join us on a fun day out with the family and experience sustainability firsthand. Plant native trees and learn about the importance of soil in our lives through a guided tour at the Emirates Soil Museum and engage in multiple ecological workshops.
This activity will be available for a limited time during the winter holidays only.

- Participants: groups of 4 - 20 people max
Program
Activity 1: Tour of the Emirates Soil Museum & ICBA experimental farm
The tour will give participants an opportunity to learn about the soil story in the gulf region. The Museum has both external and internal exhibits that allow visitors to immerse themselves in the world of soil.
Activity 2: Tree planting of UAE native tree
Participants will plant together and contribute to protecting the soil from erosion while offsetting their carbon footprint!
Activity 3: Seed Saving, Seed Bombs & Introduction to Permaculture
- Participants will learn how to save seeds from their daily fruits and vegetables and create seed bombs to encourage them to plant in a fun way.
- Participants will also understand the concept of permaculture and biodiversity.
Activity 4: Compost 101 & Artistic Planting
- Participants will engage in discussions about composting to know how to segregate waste and what can be composted and what can’t. They will create compost layers and fabricate the right bins to collect their food waste in while understanding the recycling process and organic food production.
- Participants will plant in a sustainable manner that saves water then design their own pots to take away.
